There are three major zones in Tanzania that are ideal for a safari:
  1. Northern Circuit
  2. Southern Circuit
  3. Zanzibar island and the surroundings

Sample Itinerary

We customize every itinerary, but here's a sample 10-day itinerary. In this plan the client can do four days in the southern circuit and then fly or drive to Arusha for the rest of the days, then we can opt to fly back home from Kilimanjaro airport instead of coming back to Dar.

Day 1

Arrive Dar es salaam from abroad meet our representative at the airport and drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Morning after breakfast drive from the hotel to Selous game reserve approximately 4.5hrs drive, arrive there for hot lunch then short rest before you go out for boat safari for the rest of the day where you will have better chance to see Crocodiles, hippos, lots of water birds as well as animals coming down for evening water. Evening drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

The morning after breakfast you will go out for full day game drive with picnic lunch, this is a great chance to see Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, Impalas, and more. In the evening, we go back to the lodge /camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Wake up early in the morning for a cup of coffee collect you packed breakfast and go out for early morning game drive which is the best for its morning animal movements including both nocturnal and diurnal games, you will have a bush breakfast and proceed with a game drive till afternoon when you will go back to the lodge/camp for hot lunch. After lunch and resting afternoon you will go out for another boat safari to the end of the day, dinner and overnight at the same lodge/camp.

Day 5

Wake up early morning for a cup of tea/coffee and go out for a two hrs nature walk, return for breakfast then pack your belongings and depart for Dar es Salaam to connect with your flight to Arusha, our guide will pick you from the airport to the lodge in Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Breakfast at 7:30 then meet your driver-guide for a safari briefing before you depart for Tarangire national park 130kms approximately 3hrs drive i a 4x4 safari jeep that will lead you to your first encounter with our wildlife, in the afternoon your guide will serve you with picnic lunch at the best river view picnic site after lunch proceed with game drive until late evening when you will drive to SUNBRIGHT BUDGET CAMP or TARANGIRE SOPA LODGE for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast then drive up the rift valley escarpment to Serengeti national park through Ngorongoro conservation area, have the afternoon and evening game drives in the area spotting big cats as well as plains game, evening drive to SERONERA BUDGET CAMP or KATIKATI LUXURY LODGE. (Approx 6hrs drive)

Day 8

Being your last day in this beautiful nature your guide will be ready for the dawn pre-breakfast game drive, just as the sunrise sparkle its light in the wilderness giving you the first rays to watch cats, vultures and other predators up to around 10 am, you will then get back to the lodge or camp for late breakfast before you load your bags in the vehicle to leave for en-route game drive to Ngorongoro conservation area for dinner and overnight at SIMBA BUDGET CAMPSITE or NGORONGORO WILDLIFE LODGE. There's also an option to stop at Olduvai gorge or Maasai boma, which is approximately a 6-hour drive.

Day 9

At the rim of the Ngorongoro crater which is well known for its cold during the night and in the mornings your guide will be obliged to meet you at 6:00 am after a full breakfast before you jump in the vehicle to descend to the crater floor for a full day game drive you will enjoy the sunrise game drive with animals next to your vehicle (DONT FEED THEM) this is the only place you can easily spot the big 5 at once on a lucky day so make the most of it. find yourself at the famous picnic site full of animals and birds for lunch, late afternoon drive out of the crater for dinner and overnight at NGORONGORO FARM HOUSE or SUNBRIGHT CAMP. (Approx 1hr drive).

Day 10. Enjoy your breakfast with a sunrise panoramic view as the sun rays sparkle from Ngorongoro forests. By 9:00 am, we leave the place for Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar or day at leisure before your evening flight back home. (Approx 3hrs drive).

Tanzania hosts The Great Migration 10 months a year

This is one reason why Tanzania is better than Kenya for a safari since you're more likely to witness the Great Migration.

Although the Northern circuit is fabulous, for those who want to get away from the crowds, you must consider the Southern Circuit.
